You are asking us???

You must be just pretending to be a woodturner. [}:)][:D]

Let me put it this way. I am willing to pay several hundred bucks for those if I can get them. [;)]

I am new here.. I took wood shop 30 years ago in High school. I got back into it 6 months ago. Started making a few candle holders.. Now making pens for the last 5 weeks.. So I am a rookie.

OMG you must be kidding! You don't have them yet? I would of been back with my truck so fast I would of chanced getting a speeding ticket.

Grab 'em.....how fun to saw them open and reveal the wonders inside!!

Gokart If I know Dario, he was totally funnin' with ya[;)][:D]

Dan, These guys are pulling your leg. This wood is obviously an eye-sore. I happen to specialize in eye-sores. So all you need to do to get rid of this ridiculous waste of space is:
A. Grab that wood and box it up, you may cut it to 12x12 blocks
B. Run as fast as you can to the Post Office. ( Do not stop anywhere in route )
C. Send it Priority mail to ME !! I will accept this burden.
Its ok, dont feel guilty.... It's what I do! [;)]

And I guess I'll have to pay the shipping to dispose of these as well??? LOL

LOL,, I am just happy that I wouldn't have to pay the shipping to "dispose" of these.. Now you guys got me excited about getting them and I don't even now for sure that I can.. I won't find out tell sunday...[:I]

Dan,

My comment was meant to be a joke. If it came in a different way, I apologize.

What I want to say is...GRAB them quick! [;)] Tell your wife those are diamonds in the rough and seriously they are.

Of course everyone already told you that so if you miss this opportunity, we will (as a group) give you some spanking LOL. (Again this is a joke).

Since they've been down for 5 years, how would you guys deal with any pests that may have taken up residence in the wood, in case I'm ever in such a position...

Cheers,
Draken

Last year i bought two 3 inch slices of walnut that was cut from just below ground on a stump. It has really beautiful grain in it. You just reminded me of it so i guess its off to the shop to see if i can get it cut up into a few pen blanks. If there is any interest in it i may sell some of it on here.

I picked up a Mesquite log two years ago that had been laying next to my daughter's house for about 3 years. It was a knarly looking thing and looked more like driftwood. When I turned it over about a hundred Carpenter ants came crawling out. I doused it w/a good shot of insectacide and wrapped it in a garbage bag. I figured the combination of poison and a few days cooking in the bag in the hot Texas sun would take care of them. I was partly correct. The dozen or so that lived through the toxic sauna gleefully departed the area when I dumped the log out of the bag on the driveway. The rest (I assume) left the wood and died in the bag.

I would cut them up where they sat if possible. That way you can manage them better ----plus you can see what you are hauling home and you can leave the unwanted part sitting right there.

Walnut tends to hold up well against rot and bugs, so you could be in for a good surprise.
