Why would you want a prospective customer to:

A) Find out there are DOZENS of other people here who know how to make the pen they want.
B) Find out who the suppliers are for pen kits (view front page links).
C) Go to those links and find out what your material costs are?
D) Have the chance to "bid it out" by just following a couple of guys' signatures to THEIR website.

Great to talk with other penmakers, but I would rather not have my customers talking with other penmakers.

FWIW

While the site was down, I worked on some tools, but to answer you other question, I have a link to here from my Website, I'm not sure it's hurt my site sales, or not. I hardly get any from there. But it may as Ed suggests be causing some sales loss

I built a photo tent from pvc. I didn't like my first one I made from white foam board, so I'm giving it one more go.

I didn't even know the site was down. My mother-in-law came down and baby-sat our two children so my wife and I could go out with each other all afternoon and evening for Valentine's Day.

I cast a new set of blanks and worked out my modified cigar plans. forgot the dishes, dogs, cats, horses, trash, phone, heck even the bathroom...I wanna win something darnit!

Dried the dishes.

And I agree with Ed's answer to your question. Why take a chance on giving your competition (whether they be friends or not) a shot at your business? And if I knew what retailers paid for everything I buy from them, I think I would have the upper hand in negotiating a price. That's my dos centavos worth.

Amen!

First I wondered if it was something I said. Maybe I was banned from the site then I Helped clean the house. I have a friend coming to visit for a couple of days. Started on my entry for the freestyle pen since my Cigar entry wont qualify.

I never knew the site was down. I have been building an Aviary in my back yard for the last three days. Hope to get it mostly finished tomorrow I am getting tired.

I didn't know the site was down either... I've been on and off the site most of the day, switching between IAP and a couple of other sites...

No link from my site back to IAP or any vendor link... agree with what Ed said.

I hated every minute the site was down, I made the pen I posted in SOYP, I built a mobile tool cart in the shop. I also hate to publically keep agreeing with ED, but............... on the matter of linking to suppliers and such, I do once again.

Cussed , threw the mouse in the trash, turned off the computer, and went to work. Then after getting to work the first thing I did was sign on to check out the site and found out it wasnt my computer! Guess ill have to pick up a new mouse on the way home tommorrow.
