For a turner maybe a...
...mini lathe and a few tools.
...major chuck
...coring system
...lots of pen kits or 5 nice ones
...etc.

But for a Mercedez Benz owner, it will only get you an oil change...and a complimentary coffee while you are waiting. Learned this last Saturday because I was asked by my father in law to accompany him.

While there, I saw a Mercedez McLaren sports car for $467,000.00 [:0]. I think it is obscene for anyone to drive one of those (can't drive it faster than 80 mph legally anyway).

I think I'll stick with Toyota :D[}:)].

Oh man, I here what you're saying Dario. My best friend is a pilot for Continental and he just bought a Mercedes-Benz S55 AMG-Kompressor. I've never been in a car like that before. The seats air up as you go around corners so you don't sink into the seat. He paid more for that car then me and the wife paid for our house. I'm trying to work my way into that market selling pens. I've cracked the door a bit with his help so I'm hoping for the best. I'm with you Dario, I'll stick with our Camry. But, I sure don't mind letting him drive when we got out.[:D] I haven't got to drive it yet. He hasn't offered and I haven't asked. We will have to see if it ever happens.

Hey, I'm not rich and I drive a Mercedez-Benz!! Well OK, it's 23 years old and I got it for free cuz the owner didn't want to replace a fuel pump, but I still have one!![:D][;)]

Les,

I've driven the car multiple times and yes, all the comfort it offers are nice but too much actually for me.

I usually decline driving it as much as possible though...it makes me uncomfortable using other people's things (especially expensive ones). I can't bear the thought of something happening to it while in my hands. The responsibility that goes with it is too much and not worth it for me.

Dario,
What you forget to mention is that you only have to change the oil in the Mercedes every 15,000 miles, and it uses a very good grade of Synthetic oil. So this isn't your run-of-the-mill 3,000 mile 10w40 oil change.
Sure, you can do it yourself (good luck!) for less, but figure what a "normal" dealership or good mechanic would charge for 5 changes of 5 qts of good oil,($30?... x5=$150) and it's not really all that bad.
Lets not forget that also means its four less visits to the dealership per year. At an hour and a half per, that's about 6 hours or more... what's your/his time worth? Even at $15/hour that's another $90 (and I'll bet your/his time is worth a lot more)

So, now you've got $240 per year (15k miles) to change the oil in a "regular" car, or $270 to change it in the Mercedes.

So, once a year, it costs him $270 to change his oil... $30 more than a "regular" car. If you ask me, if that's the only downside to owning a Benz, you can count me in! [:D]

Steven,

Not sure but for my (older) Camry, factory recommends oil change every 5,000 miles or 7,500 if I use full synthetic (Mobil 1 or similar) oil. The dealership does recommend every 3,000 miles though...I wonder why? [}:)]

I do it myself and I am usually done in 15 minutes if I have to. Longer if I want to drain it really well. I also lucked out one time and bought cases and cases of Mobil 1 for $1.00 a quart!!! [8D][:D] so basically I am doing it for less than $10.00 including new filter every 7,500 miles or about every 10 weeks the way I drive [B)]. Will most likely cost me about $30.00 if I have to buy the oil at regular price though.

Another thing, On Benz every 15,000 (I'll take your word for it) OR certain number of months (not sure how many).

Ah, watch for me in the movies driving one of these . . .

I think I preferred you in you're not so humble role as 'movie star'. Guess that graphic designer is good too.

I'm not mechanically inclined, and with my luck I'd wind up cross-threading the only bolt I need to remove, leaving a nice trail of oil behind me as I drive down the road, so changing the oil isn't something I've done. I'm always envious of the guys who do that kind of stuff regularly.

Actually, the computer controls in Mercedes and some of the other cars of that ilk monitor driving style, miles driven, and other factors, and warn you when you need to change your oil. In some cases, you can go a few thousand miles over the 15,000 mile "limit" before an oil change is needed, which further weighs in Steven's favor (sorry Dario!).

Jim,

I know what you mean and no apologies needed...it swings both ways. The car we brought in actually have a couple thousand miles less than 15,000 (have about 13,000 on it) [;)].

That said...it is driven mostly on cities and the stop and go and short trips does take its toll on the engine. Not sure how true but I was told that if you ignore the warnings...after a while, the car will "refuse" to start. [:0]

[:D] Is that two buses duct taped together? [:D]

Synthetic Oil!!!

Please read my reply to Steven above. Mobil 1 is synthetic oil last I checked [;)]

Sorry, I missed that!!

As for the bus, it is 60' Articulated New Flyer. The wheel base of the front section is only 30' and the rear section tracks dead on in the tracks of the front so driving one is actually easier than driving on of our regular 40' buses. Backing it can be a pain at times but once you get used to it it is not so bad. As for duct tape, well, we can't even say that word around the shop. If management hears it, they throw a fit. The bus is designed and partially built in Canada with German influence. This one was assembled in St. Cloud, MN. When we go up to inspect the assembly of our buses as they are being built, we have a tendency to give them a ribbing about using their accordian parts on buses!!
