Don't mean to add any concern for you, but I lost the best job I'll ever have to a big corporate buy-out. I was the project builder/designer for Woodworker's Journal when it was purchased by Primedia. They had over 200 magazines and bought up our little publishing company. The job ended about 2 years after they bought. Of course all the high profit magazines stayed in business, Woodworker's Journal's 20% profit was not enough. It closed and Roeckler bought the name and subscription list.

Best of luck to you! Nothing should change for a while anyway.[:(]

Thanks guys... I am not overly worried, in the industry I am in the "skilled worker pool" is so poor, I can walk into most any repair shop and have a job. I also don't think major changes will trickle down to my department, at least to my level.

Barry, try this. www.yankeetoys.org/lee/commerce.pdf

It constantly bothers me that people and corporations from other countries can come to America and buy land and businesses. But Americans are not allowed to own either in the most of those countries.

Are you saying you wish that the United States was run like other countries? Really?

Oh.. and I don't think the article mentioned that Commerce was not "company owned", it was owned by one guy! That is one heck of a check for selling a company you started in the 1970's !!! [:0]

I honestly dobut that there will be any movement for a long time. Tomorow they have pulled all the appraisers in off the road for a meeting. The nice thing is that it's a Friday, the meeting is from 9-10 and they did not send us any files to do for the day. I am one of the closest guys to the office, just 12 miles. So I kinda get a day off too! [;)]

I almost forgot until I got a nice e-mail from Jeff13. My meeting on Friday went pretty well. We will not find out much for a few months yet, but what we have is very good. Right now there are no plans to really change much. We loose out company stock plan and will have to go to a 401K type plan because the new company is not traded in the USA, but that's not a big issue. So far, so good... [:)]
