Guys,

My domain renewal for my website (aoturnings.com) lapsed a month (or 2) ago and godaddy never sent me a reminder (they used to). It is now owned by another person/company who even stole some of my pen related care tips, etc.

I know I swapped link to some of you. Please remove any links you may have to it.

Thank you.

I know how you must feel, remember I had to change my name from Bellssimo to Bella-Penna. Some people have no shame. He had every right to take your web name as you didn't renew (although you need to contact go-daddy as to why no warning ) but to have the nerve to use some of you content.
BTW the guy that now has Bellissimo hasn't done a thing since we went through all the problems.

2007? How can that be?

I was just thinking about you the other day, Dario. Glad to see you post but not under these circumstances. Sorry this happen to you!

I'd threaten them with a lawsuit with an official looking certified letter seeking liquidated damages of releasing the site back to you plus $1,000. They will probably quickly offer your site back to you and settle.

What in the world would he be threatening them for? He let it lapse and they bought the domain. It happens all the time when people decide they no longer have a need for their domain. Look at Russianwolf's post just a couple above. They did nothing wrong as far as buying the domain. Threaten them with a lawsuit??

Now, if Dario can prove that the pen care tips they are using were his original work, then he could request and make them take it down due to copyright violations.

They may have contacted him but it got caught by a spam filter. I used them for a complicated transfer and their initial e-mail's were caught by my spam filter at my ISP. I found them and changed the settings to allow them through.

Don't know. I owned that for years until June at the very least.

That is not my original. I borrowed it (with permission) from OldGriz.

I checked my spam box. Nothing there from them.

Not sure if it is true but I was told that when buyers want an active domain name, they can bid for it and may be given "preference" due to higher profit.

It did irritate me a bit but not enough to waste my time on it. I just don't want them getting more traffic because of what I built though...that is why I requested to have the (swapped) links removed if possible.

Thanks guys.

How can that be? He most likely has photos or content on there that is from at least 2007, that is how. The copyright notice is not for the actual domain name but rather the content that is on the page.

No, they'll tear up that letter and go about their business. I've been involved in a number of domain disputes for clients over the years and nothing gets a bigger chuckle than a demand like that.
