Looking to get a web site but there seem to be so many options that I cannot pick the one that suits me best.
I do not have much computer skills and therefore cannot be something to complicated and would like to be able to sell some of the work to at least recuperate the cost of making pens etc.
Any suggestions as to which company will be best and not too expensive to carry on every month.
Thanks
Bob

Check my site if you like it. It is by SiteKreator which is very simple to create and update. Best of all it is FREE.

I did get a domain name and that cost me about $10.00 a year.

The down side, it is not as flexible as others and it loads slower.

We use siteground, (at $6 a month, see my sig to see what we've done with it). If you want to more about siteground, PM me. I'd be happy to refer you since I'd get 3 months free.

However, I think for most you're going to get people telling you that direct marketing is going to recuperate much more than a web site. Selling over the web is a tough thing. By no means is a web site an easy thing to deal with... There is setup, maintenance and overall look/feel. It can be a positive overall, but may be a expense, not a major asset for you - especially up front.

I know there is at least one site (I don't remember it off the top of my head) that works to sell multiple turners pens. That might be a better answer for you?

Most of us who have websites will tell you that it's long haul to get to the point where people actually buy something. I've had a website for over a year and the sales through the site have not yet equaled what having the site has cost. Once you have the site up and running, you also have to be able to maintain it, and that can be a real chore sometimes. Establishing a presence on the internet takes quite a long time. If you're primarily looking to finance your pen turning, do relatively inexpensive shows instead.

I think the site that sells pens from multiple people is called PenMall. Try using the search function or looking in the marketing forum.

Don't forget the arrangement you can get through IAP.

That's who I am with. I write my own stuff (and it shows) but I have no complaints at all about the hosting service, and they throw the domain name charges into the deal. I have never had ANY downtime with them that I am aware of, and I like what I can do with email addresses. You can put me down as a satisfied customer.
