A while back there was a thread where water slide decals were discussed and one site kept getting mentioned over and over as a good source to buy the decal sheets that you used in ink jet printers.

I must be the unluckiest person when it comes to using searches because I can't find it, anyone remember the site?

I don't care to know if Hobby Lobby or Michaels, etc carry them as I live in a one horse town that has neither store and will be ordering via the internet.

Hobby Lobby has them, if you have one local. Or, a hobby shop that has a lot of models, RC plane, or trains will most likely have them too.

Rick G used decals from lazertran.com (yes there is a U.S. online store) to make a wedding pen stand. The are somewhat unique in that you can apply them using turpentine and that causes the decal to kind if be absorbed into the wood and become part of it. I don't know whether the process would work with other decals or not. Although you can use the decals with a laser printer also you have to be really careful with the turpentine as it will dissolve the toner and cause it to run. I'm using these for a wooden box for the wedding pens I posted previously. I did do the printing with a laser printer since I am including a copy ofntheir engagement photo in the decal. When I tried to print this with an inkjet no matter what I did there was detail lost in the faces.

Just another alternative suggestion.

They're all over E-bay. I asked about them at the nearest Hobby Lobby and the girl looked at me like I had 2 heads.

+1 on decalpaper.com!

GEORGE;

Be sure to pay close attention to which paper you order! If you use a color laser printer and order the inkjet decals, you've just had a VERY bad day! Expensive, too!

You can also get them direct from Testors, the same company that does the models and model paint. Here is the link and the paper is very good as long as you get the right type for your printer (ink jet or laser)....don't forget the bonding spray either...or your decal will be useless....

You can get the paper either transparent or with a white backing, depends on your desired outcome...
