I was watching "How It's Made" on the science channel. They showed a two or three minute segment on handmade pens. From what they showed, it gives the impression there is nothing to the art of pen making.[B)]

I have seen that episode also.
They do sort of simplify it and make it look too easy.

But I believe anyone can make a pen, but it does take some true talent to make some of the great work that is shown on the IAP site.

Just look at some of the finishes and styles being done, not just quick mass produced crap, but true artwork.

I watch that show a lot... very interesting stuff. They simplify everything really... they kinda have to when they are showing how a semi-truck is built in a 10 minute segment :D

It's okay if they simplify penmaking, people will find out how(quick and easy)it is when and if they try it. I've been hearing at shows recently that people saw the TV show and it has actually helped my sales. While it was made to look easy to us, non penmakers now have a small taste of how much work actually goes into making a pen. This may help us in the long run.
Happy New Years,
Johnnie
