Finally, I was able to work with the photo tent and get this posted. It is a CSUSA Sienna 10K Gold Kit with a Vintage Helbros Ladies Wristwatch (parts). The tubes were painted with Krylon primer then black matte acrylic. Tubes were then "painted" with uncatylized resin then placed in Resin Saver mold. Mixed resin then poured and allowed to naturally cure over 2 1/2 days. The larger parts were then used in a 3 layer cast (black background and 2 clear layers) to make the paperweight. I used 3" PVC and wax paper (pain in the a#$) as a mold. Anyway, comments (good or bad) are appreciated. As an artist signature, I have decided to set all the watch pens to 10:25 (time I was born).

I love watch pens. Did you have to individually bend each piece to confirm to the tube? Or is that an illusion?

Love the paper weight too but think that it needs a watch face with arms in place of the large center piece. The effect on the pen is great in my opinion

Really nice work Jeff, I think it looks great! They are time consuming are'nt they?.... but well worth the effort!!~:wink::biggrin:

They do take some time. I tried one with powder coated tubes but the resin seperated as the parts were pressed into place. I think this was my mistake however because when I tore it apart the resin on the tube was still a bit tacky. Oh well, acetone works great for salvaging parts on screw ups. Besides, it was only my time wasted.....

Very beautiful pen and paperweight. With all of that work in the pen, why not a better plating for the kit - that is a pen I would want to last for a long time.:)

Can't take credit for the idea. This was Barry Gross' conception. Out of courtesy to him, I asked him if he minded if I made a few. He had no problem as long as I didn't mass produce them (that ain't goin to happen since they take so long).

Yes I did the same thing when I saw him at a woodworking show. I thought that was a cool idea and you took it to another level by adding the clock face. Nice work. Thanks for showing.

I sent you a PM for how to remedy the seperation on the powder coated tubes, need to give about a day to let everything fully cure (don't rush:wink:).... good luck!

Great looking pen my neighbour would love it. He's a retired pastor who fixes watches and clocks for fun. I don't even want to think about the time it took to make it.
