I am new to the site and the idea of casting my own blanks has me intrigued. Does anyone have the time to give me a rundown and all the supplies I would need and a tutorial. I looked in the library and there are several, just not sure which one is right for me. A link to a very useful site would work just as well. I am looking to do more clear blanks with my own stuff inside as compared to the colorful acrylics. Also, I have seen several instances of pressure pots on this site. What are they used for?

All articles from Don Ward (ItsVirgil) would apply. He casts clear blanks. almost exclusively.

There is no such thing as "useless" knowledge as you start casting. So, you can read them all and save money on wasted material or just experiment (as we did before all the articles were there) and cost yourself hundreds of dollars in projects gone awry.

I agree with Ed. There is no useless knowledge. There were no articles ro websites when I started casting...at least not related to pen blanks. The articles in the library are a collective work by those who have made the mistakes so others won't make them. Read the articles....the one by Richard Greenwald or by Jay Pickens would be the best place to start. Then there are a few that specialize in certain types of casting. Also, you-tube would be another place to look.

Do a good turn daily!
