I'm looking for someone to cast a couple of special blanks for me. I'll jump right into the background first:

A friend of mine died (cancer) at 41 years of age. He worked (security) at the Bank of Canada and so had access to the shredded money - and I can get my hands on some of the stash that he brought home for his family.

I would like to make pens for his mother, father, and sister - and I was thinking (OK, OK, LOML suggested it to me) that turning some pens made with the shredded cash that he gave to them would be perfect.

So, what I'm asking is if someone would be willing to cast shredded money *that I supply* into blanks for me.

The number of blanks (I need enough to make a minimum of three pens, but would be willing to commission more if required to make it worth your while), and the type of kits the blanks are designed for (I'm thinking Lee Valley's Cigar kit (link below)) are negotiable. I'll even supply the tubes, just to ensure that there's no chance of a cross-kit/cross-border mistake.

So, anyone want to help me out?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers!

Gary

P.S. I'm not trying to sweeten the deal, or steer it in any particular direction, but if someone already provides cast blanks (coffee beans, animal patterns, snake skin, for example) and I'm already paying for shipping, I'll probably order some other stuff as well.

Gary,

If that doesn't work.. Try pm'ing PR_PRINCESS.. I got some money blanks from her, and I'm sure she would work with you on this (and I know canada isn't an issue for her).

Gary--

I would be more than happy to cast your shredded money for you, at no charge. Just let me know if a clear resin is OK or if you would want some coloring or tinting. I would expect you to take care of shipping charges, both ways. Turnaround time should not exceed 3-4 days.

Update: I have received several incredibly generous offers, thank you.

I'll see how much shredded green I can get my mitts on and will give this a go. Obviously, I'm not going to take advantage of all of the offers, so I will choose the one that I think will work out the best and then be in touch with all of you generous people as soon as I have more info.

Thanks again. You people here are amazing.

Cheers!

Gary

P.S. Rob - Yeah, it'll be Canadian but I'm not sure what denomination(s) yet so I don't know what colour(s). I'll post progress on the pens along with acknowledgement of everyone who helped and offered to help.

Cheers!

Gary

So ---- Just how do you shred a toonie? ;)

Gary, something to think about... if the money is shredded in long pieces and not small confetti, you might want to pick out some nice clear pieces and set aside for casting in a collage style later. Id be happy to make a few for you down the road. Just a thought. John
