My mother sent me this walrus jaw bone from her recent trip to Alaska, so naturally I turned some! I added rings of turquoise, reminiscent of New Mexico, and Blackwood for contrast.

I apologize for the blurriness, still haven't quite gotten the hang of photographing the pens.

Another Walrus Jaw Pen

I turned a pen out of Walrus Jaw two years ago. I found that it was very hard to turn. Attached is a picture of my pen.

Have to believe there is a way to make this stuff look good. Probably just the pictures. I think they look good and have even greater potential. I'd choose Walrus over alligator any day.
 
Thanks! It's a cool material to work with, very dense though, so it doesn't cut well. I actually nicknamed this pen Frankenstein, because it kept blowing out, and continually needed new parts etc.
