How long should it normally take for laser etching?
I mailed four blanks with simple one line names to be etched on Dec. 2nd, they are going to the same state about less than two hours away and they still aren't back yet.
I know it is Christmas and they are probably busy but come on.
Does this seem like a long amount of time to anyone else.
This is only the second time I have used them and the first time it took about 2-1/2 weeks. I figured the first time around it was perhaps they waited for the check to clear. But on the second go around I had hope it would be quicker.
Sorry for the rant..

they cashed the check on the 10th. they e-mailed and was having trouble finding the font.
I replied and let them know where i came up with the font and let them know what other choices they could use. I don't like being a pest to people and try to be as patient as I can.
My twelve year old son made these pens for his grandparents for christmas. He hasn't said much but each day when the mail comes I can see it in his face that he is getting worried when they haven't shown up.

You have to be a pest, sometimes, to get things done - if you continue to wait, you may wait a long time. Give them a call right away and have it done asap and overnighted to you, so you have it on Monday.
Even 2 1/2 weeks turnaround is unacceptable!! A week should be the most you have to wait. I have now a laser engraver very near by, and I needed work done, so I call they guy, drive over (30 min) and wait while he is doing the engraving.

I ordered an engraved box from http://www.kallenshaanwoods.com and he had it back to me in 4 days.. The only reason it took four was because one of them was a sunday.. He would have it to me in three.. And he is in another state. He did it for me last week.. I would be calling them and bugging them. You and I can understand delays.. But a 12 year old has a hard time... Good luck... Dan

I guess it depends if they are just sitting around waiting for your single order or perhaps they have dozens or hundreds of orders AHEAD of you.

When you called them on the phone, what did they tell you?

I think in this day and age too many rely on email for things like this. If I was in a hurry I sure as heck wouldn't email someone and wait for a reply!

When I fail to ship to someone, I APPRECIATE an e-mail reminder. Sometimes, orders fall "in the cracks". While I believe I should be ELIMINATING the cracks, meanwhile I sure don't want anyone to be unhappy if it can be avoided.

At this point, CALL him. Your only hope is to get it shipped tomorrow morning if it is to be in your hands by Christmas!!!!!!!

IMMEDIACY is IN ORDER!!!!!

Oh, in answer to your question directly, I also mailed a project to Ken Nelson and got it "turned around" in 2 days in HIS hands (one day was spent waiting for ME to get the right font info to him). So WHICH engraver is certainly important, too!!

(Thanks Ken!!)[:D][:D][:D]

At this point have fun with your son at the lathe again and let him give his grand parents pens that are not engraved. He will learn a very important lesson.

You may want to consider waiting until they get there, if they are coming to you, so that they can enjoy assisting with their gifts.

I am truly sorry that your son has had a bad experience with the engraver.
