I would like to personally thank Exotic Blanks for sponsoring the Advanced Pen Contest this year.
In line with the other contests I am eliminating the judges choices and going straight to the members choice.

This is the first poll to determine the top 5 Pens. You can choose 3 pens in this poll. It will close on Febuary 23rd. The final poll will post the 24th and close the 27th. Winners will be announced the 28th.

There are 20 entries to choose from.

Good Luck to all of you who entered a pen!

Pick your top 3 choices.

This is my most complicated pen so far. It is uses Jr. Gent 2 parts, but with several modifications. The barrel finial has been modified to rotate an internal converter. This allows you to fill up the pen without taking it apart. Just dip the pen in ink, and twist the finial. The blank was made by Neil Pabia (wolftat). The barrel features windows on opposite sides made of clear plexiglass. The cap finial has been replaced with the same material as the barrel, and the barrel finial has been drilled out to accept a plug also made of the barrel material. The nib has been replaced with a Bock extra-fine nib.

Pen kit: Venus Roller Ball - Black Ti Blank: 250+ hand cut/hand laid pieces of Abalone and Mother of Pearl; Mosaic Finish: 100% CA build up & finish (blank was not cast) Details: Blank was created with 250+ Abalone and Mother of Pearl shell pieces. Each piece was cut and laid by hand to the desired design. I would classify this pen as a very elegant woman's pen. A very beautiful pen to look at under direct sunlight. Well balance and the roller ball fill makes it a pleasure to write with. This pen can easily become a family treasured heirloom for years to come.

Material: Solid Marble from the same quarry as the Lincoln Memorial. Hardware: Solid Sterling Silver, Solid 18k Gold nib plated with Rhodium. I wanted to make a pen made from a unique, challenging material. As I began to craft the closed end body, I really liked the curve where the marble met the silver. I carefully replicated that curve on both ends of the cap. It has some weight yet sits nicely in your hand.

Tell us about your entry:

This pen uses Gent Jr size feather blanks, trim rings and Gent Jr style clip. Everything else is custom. I felt this blank set warranted something that worked better with its color scheme than any of the kits. The tube sizes necessitated some compromises, including dangerously thin walls, so I used aluminum in two places for strength. Adding trim rings made it even more complicated, but I learned some good things for future use. Overall the pen is still much lighter than a kit pen version of these blanks would be. It uses a number six nib and does not post. The tapered finials are intended to mimic the feather shapes a bit. Thanks for your consideration.

This is a look back at the flattops of the 1930s. The material is Mazzucchelli cebloplast in Cobalt Glow, a material Scheaffer selected for one of its last limited editions. The cap bands and finial washers are jewelers brass cut from sheet stock and turned to size on the lathe in a shop-made jig. The clip is a traditional ball like those found on the early flattops. I am using a size 6 steel nib made in Germany by Knox. The section is styled after the Wahl Eversharp Skylines.

Tell us about your entry:

I have only turned 15 to 20 pens but I entered the advanced because I cast my own blanks. I don't even want to post what is in my pen because I know it has not been done and I know people will copy but oh well.. I know I originated it. This pen has sea urchin spines that were stabilized purple and cast in my own mixture of black and gold with alumidust.
