I recently ordered and received some 'free' business cards from Vista Print. To get the cards I had to pay shipping using a debit/credit card. Today, while reviewing my Pay Pal account, I noticed a $14.95 charge by Vista Print. I called and after wading through a tiresome automated telephone menu finally got a person. He said that was for my "membership". I said I never bought or agreed to a membership and he readily agreed to cancel and refund my money. I'm sure charges like this get by many people and that is how they can afford to offer 'free' cards. I had intended to purchase cards in the future but not now. If you have ever gotten 'free' cards from VP check your account charges, you may have money coming back.

I have seen this on them on several forums I read and yes if you get their free cards you pay to become a member and will be billed it monthly if you don't cancel, if you can get a real person they will cancel your membership .... then the spam starts

I've ordered from VISTAPRINT on two different occasions paying via credit card. They billed everthing correctly without 'additional' fees. Am satisfied with their quality & pricing.

I know I am new here and do not have a very high rating yet, but I am trying to help with the knowledge I do have after being scammed by them also.

I agree with Peter and Mark - I've used VP many times without a problem. They do have some extraneous junk that pops up when you're working through the payment process, and it's easy to see how some might accidentally click on one of the links thinking it was something you were supposed to do to complete the check-out.

I tend to say VistaPrint is a good service, and that the scam is not per say a scam, it is people not paying attention to what is checked on(a lot is auto checked) order forms, and just clicking through the check out and paying. Then not checking their statements every month.

Be careful at the checkout, especially with the pop up offers. That said, I've ordered sveral thousands of cards from them and have been very satisfied and will continue to use their service. Their cards are top notch (my customers usually think they have two cards when in fact it is only one very thick card).

It's much simpler to just print you own cards.. you can get the card stock at any office supply house.. Avery has a Business card layout that is installed in you Word Document files, and you can do what ever you want... Print in photo mode to get the best copy and it only costs the price of the card stock...

I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend iprint.com. 500 business cards, full color, printed both sides, with shipping were $39.48. You can even upload whatever graphics you want at a slight up-charge, but that is reflected in the price I paid since I did upload a color gradient as an accent on the left side.

This was better for me than going the Avery route since I wanted better paper and needed waterproof ink that my inkjet printer won't provide.

I read carefully and specifically DID NOT choose the membership. Scam all the way.

I did that for many years. But suddenly, my computer/printer/whatever decided to stop centering on the cards. I have wasted many sheets of cards, ink and patience trying to remedy the situation. Frustrating. That's why I finally went with the VP "free" cards. Next batch will be ordered locally from a printing company.

I've been dealing with Vista Print for many years and NEVER ONCE had anything other than perfect service. I'll admit that their site does have a lot of fluff which attempts to upsell you and even to get you to sign up for monthly services, but I've purchased thousands of business cards, brochures, magnets, post cards, etc. and never been mischarged. By the way, for those of you who print your own cards at home, that may be cost effective for very short runs, but full color cards for two cents each (that's about what I pay) is almost impossible to beat.

I also use Vista Print.

So far I'm happy with the company. I hate the spam. I hate that you need to wade through all the crap at the end to checkout, be sure to read it all or you WILL join there club by accident. Aside from that the price and quality is great. I tried the free ones once but I didn't like there advertising on the back. I don't use the free ones any longer.

Wow! I am a little shocked. I used them twice about 3 or 4 years ago and never got scammed with a membership fee. I am guessing they didn't make quite enough money and decided to try and slip this in.
Thanks for the heads up Frank. If I ever need cards again, I'll go somewhere else. Even if it didn't happen to me, it's the kinda thing that gets under my skin.
