Had some rather good looking visitors to our front garden today (maybe they were attracted by Jeff's Bee pen?:)), they are Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos.

They are a rather large bird which makes a lot of noise and can rip branches of a tree without much effort. This was a flock of about 24 that hang around for most of the day.

Here is one a bit closer.

But .. did you teach them any dirty words?

I remember a LONG time ago in south Philly (Philadelphia PA) there was a place called Bazaar. Large place with small shops separated by tape marks on the floor. A pet store had a Mina bird in the "front" with a large sign above it saying "Please don't talk to the Mina bird!". I was standing there admiring the bird, when it looked around at me and said, "Whatsa matter stupid, can't you talk?" I nearly split a gut laughing!!!!

Randy,

I had a similar experience at the store where my father bought his cow and horse feed. He was talking to the owner who had a very distinctive laugh. The myna bird he had in a cage could imitate his laugh perfectly. I was staining by the cage fascinated by the bird when it suddenly shrieked "Why don't you talk?"
