I contacted Jet about my lathe motor. They were trying to make everything difficult.:( The guy even said they new they had a problem with the motors[:0], that's why they have a five year warranty now(started mid-year last year).
So I got in touch with the WC I purchased the lathe at and she took my motor serial #. She just emailed me and said she will have me a new motor by the end of the week.:D:DI am VERY happy.:D

Woodcraft really went to bat for me when I found the problems with my Jet. They actually called Jet and got the ignorance runaround while I was standing right there, and they just shrugged it off and gave me my money back, which I promptly turned around and spent right there on a Rikon instead.

Those Woodcraft guys will always get my business for local tool buying (at least big-ticket items). It's great that they take up slack for the manufacturer, but it still makes me feel bad for them. Jet, in your case and mine, should've ponied up and taken care of the customer.

Seems like Jet has sorta slipped lately, I know their older stuff has held up well. That 6 year old 1236 that I got from Ron looks like it's been through a war (knowing Ron, it has!), and it's still running strong. Ron gave me 3 or 4 drive belts for it, and when I asked him how often they wear out, he said, "not sure, the original one's still on it".

I doubt that the newer stuff is going to be as reliable. Too bad, looks like they've been taking cherries out of the pie for too long. It'll catch up to them.

Looks like Jet is starting to go through what Delta did a few years ago - cutting corners and making products on the cheap. It's too bad, as I have had good results from the several Jet tools I own. I might think twice before buying from that line in the future. Glad to hear Woodcraft did the right thing for you. That's real customer service.

Cheers.
