Not too bad if I say so myself. Easier than I thought it was going to be. Made from a baseball bat blank from Woodcraft. Polished with just a couple coats of friction polish.

The question is... Are there any stains that I should stay away from if staining a pepper mill? It seems to me that it shouldn't really matter since the pepper corns wouldn't come in contact with the stain on the outside.

I never use stains, the "natural wood" is what makes the piece

I feel if you use stain, you are trying to hide some thing.....
It's like a GOOD steak, you don't need sauce if it is a good
quality cut of meat
