High school is over, the grades are final, the scholarships awarded, the speech is written and tomorrow my son will graduate and deliver the valadictory address. He is off to Notre Dame in he fall and the scholarships are paying for everything. I feel like I won the lottery.

Also the long list of things to fix-up, clean-up, set-up, paint, repair, put away, drag out, borrow from neighbors and otherwise listed on the honey-do list to get ready for the big gathering of family and friends after the event; the list is almost complete. It took about 12 hours to get my shop perfectly clean. I'm not too sure that anyone coming to my son's graduation party is going to want a tour of my pen shop, but if they do; its clean.

Congratulations, you certainly have a lot to be proud of. Just look at all the cleaning and getting ready as a side benefit of your son's success.... and I bet someone will want to see your shop!

You should be proud, they only wanted to give me a partial scholarship, which still would have been $10 grand out of pocket for me.

Your son must be one smart cookie to get a full ride to ND.

ND doesn't give any merit scholarships, only need based ad that was incidental. The scholarships came from outside sources.

Congratulations top you son on his achievement. I can see the proud glow from your face all the way down here in New Orleans (I'm visiting my so this weekend).

Congratulations, Gerry,

Sounds like you passed "dad-hood" 101!!!

Sorry, no A's or F's, this course is Pass/fail.
But the rewards continue for decades - every time
you LOOK at him, there's a momentary lump in your throat.
