I'm new here as you can tell from the number of posts! I've have turned many pens in the past but became interested in stabilizing and dying wood for other turnings & have found a lot of information in this forum. Thought I'd share this: Because I already have a 6.5CFM Vacu-clamp veneer system, I wanted to use it for infusing. This pump turns off when the desired vacuum level is reached - which is adjustable, so it only runs if the vacuum drops. I made a simple wooden box about 14" square with a piece of 1/2 Lexan that fits in top. Holes are drilled in the sides and it is wrapped with a polyster air-weave product that prevents any air bubbles forming and allows air to exit all around easily. The whole thing goes in the vacuum bag.
Seems to work. I've tried it for aniline dying curly Maple, and after vacation I have plans for Cactus Juice!

First, Welcome to the IAP Forum.

Second ... Very clever using the veneer bag for larger items. You will have to wait and see if others here try your method. I consider this type of idea to be a great example of one using their head for more than a hat rack. (And there are many great hat racks at work here these days.)

Great idea and useful post ...
