I was just on the USPS website helping my daughter and down toward the bottom of the home page it said "Get Packing with Free Priority Mail Supplies." It listed small, medium and large flat rate boxes as free. I don't use these so didn't check into it, but it might be worth while for those who do. Just a thought.

That is very true. You can pick them up free at the post office and alot of usps pacn n ship stores. Plus you can order them from the usps website and they will send them to your house for free. Very convenient!

If you call ahead, they will even pick them up from your house.

I just stopped in today and picked up 10 of the small boxes.

I use the free Flat Rate Priority boxes quite a bit. Using click and ship, you can order a pick up without even making a call. Besides, our local P.O., and I assume many others, can't even be called anymore. You go through an automated switchboard thing. Very annoying.
BTW, I also get what is called the #4 Priority box, it is about 7" square, not flat rate. Using that and a scale, I often save money by not having to use the next larger size FR box at more money. Light weight objects that won't go in the FR envelope are perfect for this box.

You can order a pickup at the wesite. I haven't been to the PO in a long time- No standing in line and if you print your postage on line it is $4.85 for the small FR box and Envelope.

I especially like it when I get a package fedex or ups and inside is chocked full of "free" packing material from the US Government...what a country!
