Never being one to waste precious wood, having made a mistake in cutting 2 pieces of wood to width I decided to still cut the segments and see what I could make from them. The wood was ½" thick and so I needed to double up to get a usable blank. The woods are Canary, light-colored ???, Rosewood end pieces, and Walnut spacers. There was no grand design. Just for fun, I simply glued things to together as I went along. The final result is attached. It came out better than expected, and I might use ring segments on purpose in future. The kit is Maple Leaf by William Wood-Write in Gun Metal.
