Hey!!! I said YOU would win:tongue::eek::biggrin:

We may be a small country, but we're perfectly formed...................mmm maybe not.

are we talking football:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: New Zealand is going to kick some South African butt!! (seriously I dont care)

I would like to be optimistic, but your pretty good. Sounds like "bend-em" is out. Must be doing a photos shoot somewhere! England 3 - US 1....Bummer!

<snip> Think you can do it again?

<snip>

 Nope, doubt USA can win this one -- I just hope it's not 3-0 so USA has a chance to advance out of the group on goal difference!

I'm sure I've watched more of the England players than USA players as I watch a lot of EPL matches on ESPN & Fox Soccer channel. I've never watched an entire MLS match so I'm not familiar with a lot of our players (save those few who have played major roles for EPL squads like Howard and Dempsey -- Donovan showed some promise while on loan to Everton this year so maybe he won't be intimidated).

I hope it's a competitive match in any case.

I vote for Manchester United ! Rah Rah RAh!

I don't know my sports very well, especially Soccer. USA is not one of the teams you ever hear talked about much on the news, it's usually Manchester or South Africa, Brazil, places like that. Now if we could build a new USA team from South Central LA...and change a few of the rules....:biggrin:

Jeff, one of the questions in your upcoming USA citizenship test is to name all the players in the USA World Cup team. .....and their pets names......and the WAGS names too!!!!

I don't mind who wins Jim:biggrin: I'm not a massive footy supporter but will be watching most of these games. It really would be great if USA got pretty far in the contest though as it would possibly promote the game a bit.
Unfortunately, football ( soccer )has a lot of thuggery and hooliganism linked to it these days.

Tonight is South Africa v Mexico. Should be a good game.

It is not an American game and I am not into it. I like football.

LOL John. This IS football. I think when you guys were looking for a sport to play you got confused by rugby and football rules and somewhere along the line decided that the players would wear ultra tight skimpy shorts and shoulder pads. Cute!! Then, so you wouldn't get hurt, you needed crash helmets!!!. Once you realised your mistake, it was too late to change so you changed the name of OUR sport to soccer.:biggrin:

LOL, don't shoot me!!! I'm just kidding around:wink::beer:

the problem is that US wants to dominate anything and everything. Including sports. Football (Soccer) is just osmething of the European and Eastern and African thing. they don't try to paly American Football and be the best at it. It's just us that trying to be best at everything and sometimes we are not realistic at that. Those countries benn playing this game for centuries and are not about to give it up To US. but, Oh well that's just us we have to be in everything some one else will do. It's nice to have a presence there, but it's all a diversion to get our minds away form the other problems we have locally to deal with.

:biggrin::biggrin: I know, I was just asking for trouble when I said that.

Well, Skip, that makes us Americans. .We do things unconventionally. that keeps the spirit going. Like I said we have to put our nose into everything to say we tried, and from time to time we excell, too.

the only chance you've got is rooney. i think we can pull it off with howard as our keeper as well.

but good luck.

Rooney certainly is a gifted player but he is also a foul mouthed thug and the likes of him are just one of the reasons the sport gets a bad name.:frown:

how did we call american foot ball what it is it has nothing to do with our feet other than a kickoff so we should call handball or something

Jimmy, all diversion; that's all there is to it. I was wondering the same thing too that where the heck the name comes form where there is no foot contact with the ball. to me is all pushing and shoving, and then we sit and watch that for the entir egame and once in while amybe a ball gets thrown around. Go, figure. Oh well,, I can make millions preaching, huh?

Great, now we can look forward to a revolution every four years instead of elections. And then there are the unmarked graveyards and headless drug dealers.

I actually had someone tell me Ciudad de Juarez was a peaceful town. Ack! That's like saying there are no drunk sailors in Tijuana.

 I didn't get to see the match!! I was called out to work:frown:

I think that although the score was the same, USA were the real winners.
They held their own against one of the big favourites. Well done USA!!!

Jeff, the score isn't that important really. The get 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw or nil for a lose.
It is now even more important for both teams to win their next matches so they can get through to the next round.

Then it would be called the "NBA" or maybe the "NFL"
