I spent all day yesterday at the US Nationals with a good friend. He ended up winning his class, which was Super Stock GT/C Automatic. Also got to see the Nitro cars for the first time. Man it was pretty dang awesome. I took hundreds of pics. Thought I'd share a few with you guys.

The first couple is Matt's car. It's a 06 Pontiac Sunfire.

pics are great, but the real part of the show is the thundering sound!... one cant appreciate racing till they get to see a car thunder by them at 200+ MPH yippee!

AWESOME!!! One of the best times I've had is the day we spent at the Atlanta Dragway for the Southern Nationals a couple of years ago. If anybody has never been, you should definitely go. What a thrilling experience!
 
Oh how I envy you!! Must have been a blast.

Never got the chance to go to a national race yet but have been to some large holiday weekend extravaganzas in the past as well as our local track. Got to love that scent of nitro fumes mixed with essence of burning rubber.:wink:

As much as I love watching nitro funny cars, my favorites are the nitro fueled altered class. For those of you who don't know what that is here is a glimpse.

Nice pics Ernie! The sounds, the sights, the smells... Drag racing is hard to beat!
 
Glad you had a good time. I actually live about a mile from the track. I have never been to the races though. As loud as the cars are at my house I can only imagine how loud it is sitting in the stands.
