Well, here is the beast that took up so much of my time recently.
I'm not in a hurry to make another anytime soon.
The 7mm twist pen is made from the center of this maple burl blank.
Started with a blank about 1-1/8" square and 6" long. Added some mahogany accents during the dissection. The door pivots on metal pins made from small nails and there are a pair of magnets to keep the door closed. The top and base are also mahogany. Also added a small bit of black acrylic for a handle. Took too many hours to count. BTW, if it looks like it is not exactly straight that's because it isn't. I tried for days to get that burl to straighten out but gave up.

Interesting design, and very creative. It is amazing how some small projects manage to consume vast amounts of shop time! Nice work.
