I'm a really new pen turner. I've only made 10-15 pen kits so far but really enjoy it. Love fountain pens for letter/note writing, of which I do a fair amount at work. But my favorite everyday pen is the Uniball vision with blue ink. I've tried the Oxford rollerball from PSI and don't love the weight or tip of it. Wondering if any of you could point me in the direction of either a kit, or a method for making something custom in the future. I'm clearly not anywhere near ready for that but am goal-oriented enough to love having something to shoot for. Thanks for these forums. You've helped me and inspired me a ton already.

Can the refill be removed from the pen? If so, can you take a pic of it, preferably next to a ruler?

It depends on what you are looking for. If it is the ink delivery, ie the refill, the Uni-ball refill can be inserted into just about any rollerball kit (along with the Pentel Energel which is very similar and can be purchased in an even finer point nib).

If it is the weight of the pen, you will need to use a light acrylic and a smaller rollerball kit to keep it as light as the Uni-ball. The Cabalerro, available at Exotic Blanks is one of my favorites but there are most likely others.

If you want a click pen, the Blade kit is pretty versatile and can be modified to fit either refill (as well as the Pilot G2 which also comes in a .5mm nib).

From a couple if YouTube videos it appears to that the "refill" is like a Sharpie refill and screws into the pen body. Probably uses a specialty set of threads. If that is true, you will need to have a special tap made. Or simply create a pen body rib the "refill" and force fit or glue the "refill" in place. Glue? Your pen is a one time use. Force fit, over time the fitting will fail.
With a custom special tap, the pen could last a few lifetimes.

I suggest you search the IAP forum for Sharpie pen refill and see how it was constructed.
