So, my poor roommates all semester dealt with me talking about woods and burls and weird wood from all over the world.... Turns out that one of them was listening and it paid off. One of my two roommates went to Africa on a missions trip and just got back - and look what he brought. Paid a guy $1 to chop it off a tree (after my roommate correctly identified it as a burl). He immediately sealed it with something (for which I am both thankful and very impressed) and then carried it in his luggage for 10 weeks and gave it to me at church tonight.

I've never seen this commercially available - I'm sure it is somewhere, but probably not easy to find....
