I'm new to posting and hoping this is the corrct place to post my question. I recently saw a pen blank that was burl wood and acrylic kn the same blank. It looked awesome and I'm wondering if someone can give some info on how this is done. Thank you in advance

They are called "mutts" and are done by one of our great members here, ElMostro, AKA Eugene Soto and make some of the prettiest pens I've made. I don't know HOW he makes them, exactly. NOR DO I CARE, as long as he keeps making them.

Check the classified ads here or beartoothwoods.com. His Amboyna and blue resin combinations are a huge success, here. Thanks for reminding me, I need to order more.

Actually, that type of blank is called Worthless Wood and Amalgum Mutts are Eugene's brand of them, Andy. There are many others that make them as well. Eugene does make great blanks, though.

As well as Curtis the Mesquite Man who does an awesome job with worthless wood!
