Our annual Turnfest symposium (Australia) is done and dusted for another year. These are my contributions to the Instant Gallery table this year. A small snapshot of the many inlay bandings and blanks that I make from scratch. On Executive Sierra and Gallant hardware.

That is some very fine segmenting. What tools are you using? Are these done with a tablesaw. I assume you made yourself a jig to do the small cutting. Would like to see some progress shots and share your method with us. Always like seeing segmenting work. Very nice designs. Thanks for showing.

John, all done on a 10" Woodfast TS250 table saw. Nothing unique in my methods, simply using zero clearance sleds and techniques very similar to those in the tutorials I have seen on IAP. The only secret is dedication to solving all of the one percenters.

The construction of my inlay banding blocks pretty much follows the traditional methods as I make them anywhere from one pen blank length to the more traditional yard long blocks. Sections are cut from the blocks using a bandsaw or tablesaw for the individual blank assembly.

After Curt Theobald's IG pieces and his demonstrations / presentations at Turnfest, I feel my work looks like a hack in comparison to Curt's.

Attached is an image of one of my double helix blocks before face veneers are added.
