Maybe this question needs a hint[8D]

It is one and the same person[:D]

BTW - of the 3 answers I've gotten, you may try again. After reading my question, I can see how it MIGHT be confusing!

The prize is some great looking AXIS Antler cut about 6" and some wood blanks, all generously donated by OZMANDUS (Chuck), thank you.

Good Luck everyone!

Wow, lots of people played this game BUT only 7 of you got it right.

William Purvis - The Fountain Pens of William Purvis

William Purvis of Philadelphia invented and patented improvements to the fountain pen in 1890. William Purvis made several improvements to the fountain pen in order to make a "more durable, inexpensive, and better pen to carry in the pocket." Purvis used an elastic tube between the pen nib and the ink reservoir that used a suction action to return any excess ink to the ink reservoir, reducing ink spills and increasing the longevity of the ink. Fountain pens were first patented as early as 1809.

I had LOML pick a number between 1 and 7, he picked #4. Drum roll please...........Alfred Rioux AKA arioux is this months winner. Congratulations Alfred! Please send your snail mail address to ozmandus aka Chuck. He has generously donated this months prize. Thanks to all who played and all who have donated thus far[:D]

BTW, sorry I was late posting, just got back from Super Walmart, need I say more[}:)]

congrats to the winner and thanks for hosting the contest.

As a point of interest, my answer was:

Lewis Waterman - Waterman Pens

The essential novelty of Waterman's first fountain pens was the feed (capillary feed), for which his first pen-related patent was granted in 1884. He used the capillarity principle that allowed air to produce a steady flow of ink. He guaranteed the pens for five years.

His invention was supposedly inspired due to a malfunctioning pen spilling on a contract. While he rushed to get another pen, a rival finished the deal. The veracity of this event is debatable.

Surprisingly I did get the right answer. But it was a toss up with Waterman.

Congrats to the winner! [:)]

Well people I interpreted Purvis' patented "improvement" as being the key word since his patent was a little later than Waterman's. I'm such a newbie and know nothing of what I write except what I read. Please refer to my tag line[:D][;)]
