Finally had a bit of warmer weather and sliced up the boards to make some blanks. I have a bunch of off cuts that I might be able to cast into something once I finally figure that out.

Now to size some and get some tubes glued up so I can't make my last batch of pens before the holidays.

I went to home goods about 3 months ago and bought a whole bunch of olive wood boards of various thicknesses. They do have some nice grain in them. Good for lots of things. probably make a few pen stands from some of it.

Never been to Trader Joe's. There are some in the Dallas area which is 90-100 miles away. Are the cutting boards reasonably priced?

They only get them once a year, just around Thanksgiving, and they go really fast. I would be surprised if there were any there and would hate to see you use that much gas to not get any. Maybe give them a call first. They were $12 for the smaller ones this year (maybe 8-9" wide and 12-14" long?)

No problem on the drive. When I head to Dallas to pick up pen supplies, I make it to Rocklers, Woodcraft & Woodworld. This will be another store to check out. Plus I'm trying to follow Weight Watchers & Trader Joe is a good store for dieting.,,

What are the dimensions on the square?
They look smallish but photos are hard to judge without a point of reference.
Good question. My saw is now back to it's normal state and that's all covered up by random junk. I really need to find a way to organize. The blanks range between 5/8" - 7/8" in width.
