Toster oven

I am casting blanks now question I am now useing 3/4" pvc tubes it take 24hr befor I can pound out.
If I put in a toster oven that I have hered people talk about will that cut down the time?

I post cure mine at 130 degrees for about an hour and shut off the over and let it sit and cool in there. I do this once the top is solid but tacky. For my molds I go 2 hours to make sure the entire blanks heats through. This is w/ PR.

I've been using PEX tubing to cast round blanks and put it in a toaster oven at close to 200 for two hours as soon as it is hard enough that it doesn't want to flow when tilted sideways. I usually take it out of the mold after the first hour (it is still fairly flexible) and cook it for the second hour by itself.

Works just fine for me and the material drills and turns very easily with no brittleness.

I've also baked them (after it comes out of the mold) at 450 for an hour and that seems to make them much harder but also harder to drill and turn without chipping them.

I am using alumilite and a pressure pot after two hours in the pot how soon can I demold out of the PVC tube

Alumilite and PVC???

You may have to turn the PVC off the blank, There isnt too much shrinkage (if any) in Alumilite and will be a pain to get it out of the PVC.

Ooops! Just poured my first test blank today, Alumilite in 3/4" PVC:redface:. Will let you know how it goes.

Could not get the blank out of the PVC with a sledge hammer. So I turned off the PVC. I will post the pen when I make the blank into one.
