I read another post that referenced 'English' HSS as being the best, so I went on a hunt...didn't really find what I was looking for, but I found an interesting article by Allan Lancer:

One thing that surprised me was that the BB gouges from PSI and the BB from Ebay are different...odd, eh?

I read the article in the AAW mag when it was published and thought that the differences were just due to poor quality control on the part of Benjamin's manufacturing process.

I've used the BB skews to experiment with different grinds... If do something stupid, only $10.00
