Today I came home with a Jet JDP-17MF drill press and a Rikon 70-100 lathe. The drill press is new and is 17 inch, 16 speed, the lathe has little use on it. I love a great deal like this. Now I just have to figure out where to put them in the shop.

you know,,, if you have trouble finding a place for them in your shop. I'd be more than happy to hold them for you in my shop.. :D
 
I have this lathe and I really like it a lot. It is easy to change speeds and vibration is minimal. I have mine mounted on a stand I got from Woodcraft and mounted really good casters. I have a tiny space and it rolls easily and once wheels are locked it doesn't move at all. Nice drill press also. Have fun!
 
Yeah, I think I got a good deal. It was $400 out the door. the drill press has a 4-3/8" throw so I can even drill a long click out in one shot. The lathe is my favorite, I have one mounted on my bench and this one is probably going to be mounted in my trailer for shows. I even have an extension for it sitting around somewhere. It's too bad the store had to be closing for me to get a deal like this.
 
You got a heck of a deal on these Johnnie ! GOOD JOB !! I think the lathe by itself , would be worth that . ( haven't priced them ) I got a REALLY good deal on a bandsaw , a few months ago . Remember ? I hope you feel as good as I did then . Thanks for posting this , and congratulations ![8D]
 
The shop I work at has that exact same drill press. It has a lot of good power.

The only problem we've had with it is that the belt doesn't stay tense very easily. It slips a lot if you are using a big forstner bit. I use it maybe once a month so I haven't bothered to check and see if it has a tensioner adjustment, but I'd have to guess it does.
 
nice drill press Johnnie, I guess the Rikons are good lathes too, think about it, they use them for classes!!!you know they don't get treated well in that kind of environment.
