I hate to gloat but I just can't resist. Took the wife out to visit some of her coworkers at a local hospital this morning. As a reward I got to stop by the local Woodcraft store. I have been eyeing the Steel City 17" drill press. Well to make a long story short, it goes off sale next weekend. So... she said I might as well get it now as have to go back next weekend. She and my daughter also picked out a big bunch of blanks and hardware that they want made up. The laser for it has to be ordered so I get to go back at some point anyway. I told the proprietor that I'd bring them back when I come so they could get some more stuff too. Everyone got a good laugh. A win, win, win for all. Especially dad...:D

How did you train your wife and daughter to do that? Mine just goes over to the reading table and looks at books. Oh well, I end up spending too much money anyways. So, maybe that is a good thing. [;)]

I always take the LOML to the wood store when I go... she'll pick out far more wood than I will... she'll say "this will make a nice pen (bottle stopper, game call or whatever)... and I dutifully say "yes dear".. doesn't work for tools yet though.[:D]

Around my house after an exchange like that, many questions arise. Which car did you wreck this time? What did one of my kids do now? How much money did you spend?

However since I hardly ever spend any money she would probably encourage me if we had the money at the time.

Next time try this. When she says, "can you make this for me?" You say, "well, I could if I had the right tool". It works about half the time. Or, I just start the project and when she's there I "appear" to be struggling with some aspect of it. And by the way, this can work for the ladies too. As a matter of fact, she tends to get a new vacuum about every 2 years. Hers just seems to begin giving her all sorts of trouble. I hear her cursing at it and before too long we are off to Sears. Of course, this usually means a stop by the woodworking store too.[}:)][}:)][}:)]

Chris I hope you enjoy the Steel City drill press. They seem to make a good tool,I have had their mini lathe for almost a year without any problems. It does a fine job and is very true. Good gloat.
