Come to Mount Airy, NC. I work there and I'll treat you to the FAMOUS pork chop sandwich at Snappy Lunch, of "The Andy Griffith Show" fame. This is where he grew up.

Rick -

I lived in Greensboro back in the '96-'97 timeframe and went up to Mount Airy a couple of times to look around on account of its significance to Andy Griffith. It's a neat little town. Sorry to say that I didn't know anything about any of the landmarks like Snappy Lunch, but I sure enjoyed looking in the shop windows.

I see you're from Pilot Mountain, which I assume is Mount Pilot in the show. That's where Andy and Barney used to go for their dates all the times. What was the name of the diner they frequented?

You need to check out Granny Wade's for lunch.

I didn't realize you were from the capital of the Commonwealth of Virgnia, John. I'll have to give Granny Wade's a try. I haven't been to Shockoe Slip in a while. It looks like a newcomer to the area. From one of the inside pictures on the web site, it looks like the restaurant may have taken over Hana Zushi.

Got any pictures of the said items?:)

No, Travis, I generally don't take pictures of my food before I devour it. At this point, x-rays would be required and, I'm afraid, they would not be suitable for posting here.

Now I'm hungry.
Maybe some pork chops with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes.[:p]

That makes three of us here that I know of if we include Bruce Robbins:)

I don't know what the guidelines are. Is that enough people to start our own Bubbasville of the Confederacy?

LOML & I visited Mt Airy once coming back from my BIL's place. Gorgeous little town.
