Came home today to find that my heavily overloaded pecan tree decided to rest its limbs on the ground.Look to the top and a little to the right and you will see the break. Pecan blanks anyone?

Last weekend I helped my dad remedy a problem he had similar to that with a sycamore tree. When I went to cut the huge branches down with the pole saw, I tried to get the sections as straight as I could and put the rest in a pile for winter. He thinks a few months in the shed and 90 degree weather should dry it out enough. Is this enough and should I treat the cut ends with wax or anything while they are drying out?
