As some others here I was one of the lucky ones that had a relationship with the master. He almost never missed a Saturday with out calling and we talked about pens, blanks, music and just talk in general. One day I had a friend of mine drop off a load of antler and that week-end I asked him if he ever thought of doing his feather pattern in an antler and I ended up sending him some Axis to play with in March of 2008 and forgot about it until July 3rd 2008 when he sent me a picture of the blank that was 75% complete. He passed the next day and I have always wondered what became of that blank. Skippy (SkipRat) and I discussed this through e mails and he contacted Lynn, Eagles wife and the next thing I know in todays mail I received what could be the last blank he worked on. Once again I thank Steven (SkipRat) and Lynn. This one is SUPER SPECIAL!

That Is Great that you got it, now you will always have a piece of him close to you. for those of us that never had the Honor to know him is there a web site that we can go to view his work?

This is a site that is dedicated to his works http://photos.eagleswoodworking.com/
And Al your right again, he would kick my butt if I didn't turn it, but it will have to wait untill I'm really ready.

Turning that blank will be a tribute to him and and his memory. Yours is the honor. Sharpen your tools well. You know it is what he would have wanted you to do and we all await the finished result.

This was a tough read for me. On Jan. 23, 2004 I lost my father. He was 50. I miss him terribly every single day.

You just mentioned talking about Music. Throw on the music HE would play, sharpen the tools, LOCK THE SHOP DOOR! So SWMBO can't catch you tearing up, and HAVE A GOOD TIME REMEMBERING!

Please post pics of the finished piece!

I'm with you, Roy. I'm not ready to turn my remaining "Eagle" blanks. Maybe when I get to be as skilled as you! In the meantime, I have a few to look at and remember.

I bet it's a really great looking pen with that antler. I know I'm no Eagle and did not know him at all, but if I pass on some day and you have one of my blanks..I hope you will spin it into a pen as it was meant to be. You don't have to sell the pen, or use the pen, but I do hope you will make it into one. If you don't..then I'll come back and haunt you! The art of pen blanks is similar to a chickens egg. You have to let it out of it's shell so it can be truly appreciated.

Roy,
Eagle had lots of partially completed blanks around when he left us.
If that's absolutely the last one he worked on, I'd set it in a display box.
If Eagle wants to kick your butt, he can wait 'til y'all meet again.

Gary, we will never know the last one he worked on but this one is among the last few and is special to me because of the last e-mail he sent me was a description of this along with a photo. It still might end up in a display case but believe me I'm not looking forward to the tongue lashing I'll get when I meet up with him.

You are assuming that you'll end up in the same place as him, but if you carry on with those dumb jokes that you've been posting lately then you'll be going down for sure!!!!:biggrin::tongue::biggrin:

Lou, you must be smoking some good stuff, you've always been one of my mentors but your flattery is much appreciated my friend..
