This is wierd

For the last 90 minutes, I've bee watching a jet circle overhead. He's probably at 35-40,000 feet, just circling around leaving contrails.

If he is at 35-40k feet, he is in controlled airspace and the FAA already knows fully about him!

It was a NASA test plane.

It was a NASA research plane. They said that NASA does it all the time but is was more noticeable last night because the weathew conditions allowed the contrails to remain longer and were more prominent.

Later that evening khou reported that it was one of the super guppies doing an endurance test at about 50k feet. The flight plan was filed months ago. Now I don't know who the bonehead that decided that 9/11 would be a good time to do some kind of test flight above a major city, but it gives you an idea of the kind of people who stay on in government jobs when they start cutting manpower.
