interesting/scary page http://forecast.weather.gov/showsig...cal_place1=Kailua+HI&product1=Tsunami+Warning

7.7ft wave for 88 minutes. That'll ruin your day.

I called Joel and they were already aware of it. My aunt was already heading for high ground. So despite the authorities not sounding the alarm for another hour, the people are taking action.

Good luck to everyone there and I hope it ends up being like the bitty-tsunami my mother surfed on as a kid.

I lived in Waikiki in the early 60s and went through one tsunami warning, it didn't amount to much but very scary.

Hi Guys, I am going surfing today :) No not really, I am at a high elevation so I am okay, I am also a amature radio operator and I am the net control for the ARRES emergency net and we are in direct contact with civil defence and I activated the net this morning at 4 AM Hawaii time, right now I am typing this at 8:45 Hawaii time, the wave is expected to hit Hilo at around 11 AM, Hilo is evacuated and Hawaii is as ready as can be, I am also connected via HF radio to around the world, for other hams my call sign is WH6DCC and the 40M freq. is 7.088.0
Take care and I will keep you folks updated, aloha.

Well, the tsunami came and did not do any harm, it was actually the best tsunami you can have because it happened in a way that you could see it, very well here in Hilo, we were taught in elementry school that if you see the water in the ocean go out exposing the reef, don't go out there, go to higher ground. Today we got to see it through a video cam that was on the roof of a hotel, it was neat to see the water rush out and then back in, it did this 4 times and got more intence each time, then it started to get smaller, the surges were spaced far enough apart that it did not do any damage and they were not that high, it was a good day, we go to see a real live tsunami and it did not hurt anything, aloha everyone.
