I think I have figured out that the thickness of items attached to a pen tube before casting will depend on the tube size(dia) and the finished dia of the kit parts/bushings.

Now the tube ID is dependent on whether it will become a FP RB or skinny refill, or pencil mech. so it can fit in and mate with the other kit hardware. That is with out modification.

Does that about sum it up? Or have I forgotten anything.

Measure the tube OD, measure the bushings. Subtract, divide by two.

This gives you the thickness of something you can embed if you turn bushing to bushing. If you want to put some curve on it, you can embed thicker things as long as they are not right at the ends of the tube.

If you want to get really serious, look at the new spring blossom from Timberbits. It is a Jr. size pen with an 8mm tube.
