not trying to start a fight, but I got this in an e-mail and really liked it.

I think this would work, what do you think? Sounds like a plan to me!

Dear Mr. President:
Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.
Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will
squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following
plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.
Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the
following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment
fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered -
Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing
Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes...

Actually sounds better than it is. That plan would require 40 trillion dollars. Just how much is 40 trillion dollars?. Let's put it this way - If you could spend money at the rate of
1 million dollars per hour, it would take you over 4500 years to spend 40 trillion dollars. Incredible, isn't it? And, it would take you over 340 years to spend what the U.S. government spends in a year. Maybe government has gotten a little out of hand. In order for the government to raise 40 trillion dollars they would have to tax the approximately 300 million American citizens (every man, woman and child) about $133,000 each.

that's pretty intense. I missed that first part of math or I never would have posted this. I still like the idea. maybe a million dollars is a bit steep. but at 50 you would still need a pretty good chunkO'change. especially with those stipulations. I suppose everyone has a brilliant idea or two.

Do like I did back in 1994 ... move ALL your assets ownership offshore and place them into an IBC ... International Business Corporation. It is so legal it squeaks. The cost, about two weeks of paperwork back and forth to a financial guidance person in whichever international bank you choose to handle your annual filings. Cost is negligible when you consider that all your income taxes kind of disappears in a very short time. I highly advise anyone interested to use the services of a very reputable and licensed financial planner.

Just let me have 40 trillion and we'll see just how fast I could spend it!!!

To start with I'd buy myself a car manufacturer or two. Then perhaps a large part of the banking and insurance industries. At least they would stay privately/publicaly owned!!!

at their current values, what would you do with the other 39.85 trillion?

(do you think I don't put much value in those businesses right now?)

Actually, if I had the money, I'd buy Chrysler.

Paul,

If you moved to an island, the shipping charges on turning materials might smart a bit. Plus, you'd have to figure out how to get wifi because we'd miss you.
