I wasn't even born yet but I think it's a good time to remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice on those beaches on this day so long ago .
To all the men who paid the ultimate price for our freedom , I salute you !

I knew 2 men, both plumbers in our town at different times, who survived D day!
One was named Floyd the other Lloyd.
Floyd was killed volunteering his time to connect his wife's church to the new town sewer when it went in, .... crushed to death in a cave in! Didn't seem a fit end for a man who had lived through so much.
Lloyd was the most decorated soldier in our county. A fact that no one knew till a local paper honored the veterans with an article years ago. A few years before he passed he was visited by his commanding officer. At that time they were the last two remaining from their division. Lloyd was an incredible man and I was very lucky to call him a friend!
Lloyd also had a brother who was a pilot shot down over occupied France. A few years before he passed he had a reunion with the French who had managed to save him from capture. The whole community had heard the story passed down from generation to generation, of how they had hidden the American pilot. Moving him from chicken coop to hog pen for weeks until the French Underground could get him safely out of the country. There's a movie there somewhere. :)

Humble Thanks to all who have served and continue too!

My Grandfather LCpl. Charles Wesa landed on Juno beach near St. Aubin on DDay +1 Fort Gary Horse 10th Armored Regiment. Was wounded Sept. 18, 1944 at Mont Lambert. I had go to the fort gary website to find out what happened because when we would ask him he would smile and say that he and Davy Crocket fought the battle of Jerico. To all that served, Thank you.
