Some of you likely have seen my postings about my Carbatec 4VS lathe problems. I was unable to purchase or make my own non-metallic screws to hold the new brushes in the motor. I do have to say that not having the screws a part-numbered item is not the best of ideas, in my opinion.

I emailed PSI, asking how long it would take (and cost) if I paid the air freight from China on the screws. Today when I got home, I had a phone message from PSI tech support informing me that they had managed to locate two used screws for me, and that they were mine for the cost of postage!!!! (BTW, my wife thinks my "I Can Fix My Lathe Boogie" will not make Dancing With The Stars.)

Thank you PSI for service above and beyond!!

This is the kind of customer support that should be the normal. The other day I sent an e-mail to the company that makes the "Mag-light" rechargable flash light. I was asking if I could get a replacement rubber cover for the switch (my third replacement in 17 years... Yes, I have had the flashlight for 17 years and it works as good as day 1) Not only did they get right back to me to check the switch design, the mailed me out 2 new switch covers for free. It went back to them once about 10 years ago for switch repairs and the rebuilt the entire light for free (less shipping) Man, bit more of a rant there... anyway, it's the little things that make you go back again. [;)]

Were you wearing pants that rip off to reveal a g-string underneath when you did the dance? [:p] That might not get you onto Dancing with the Stars, but that outfit together with your dance might get you a spot at a local club on saturday nights! And then you could be earning money to buy more wood...[}:)][}:)]

Angela,

I don't have any new g-strings. My tailor, Omar the Tent Maker is on vacation. [;)] Anyway, I'm taking a break from exotic dancing as I have plenty of wood. [}:)][;)][}:)]

Ohhhhh so that answers the question, "Where is Angela on Saturday nights?" [8D]

Fire, you are so right, customer service all the way! I worked at a high end gift store for several years. When I first started it was all about customer service. For several years I watched the owner drop our services and we lost many customers. I know the lack of services was a contributing factor to it's closing.

Great story about the flashlight.

Speaking of companies - I am going to capitulate here..........

In a post sometime last year, I was unhappy that I had ordered pen kits that CSUSA assured me were in stock and, subsequently, waited 4 weeks beyond the ship date for them to be delivered because they were backordered. As it turned out, the kits and tools were sitting on a truck waiting to go through some kind of "customs" check - not all the fault of CSUSA. They were very polite to me - despite my obvious frustration with the service. Ok, ok.......I had a rough month.

Anyway - I felt they handled the entire thing well. I was further chagrined with myself when I screwed up a Jr. Gentleman II pen and messed up two of the parts for the kit. I contacted CSUSA and asked if they had replacement parts I could purchase. Since I was ordering more kits, I asked if they could include it with my order. They sent me the parts with no charge - even though I had admitted to screwing the parts up to begin with.[)]

That was great service. [:D]

BTW - does anyone have the little plastic inserts for the 24k fountain pens and rollerball pens from CSUSA? This is the plastic piece that installs into the cap to hold the cap onto the body of the pen - I broke one trying to install it correctly. [B)] Here is a picture of the pen from the CSUSA website:

If anyone has an insert or two or three, please let me know what you would sell it/them to me for. I'm embarrassed to contact CSUSA and tell them I need yet another part (but I guess I shouldn't be embarrassed to tell 800 people the same thing.......hmmmmmmmmm....)

Best,
Roger Garrett

Roger,
I don't like that kit, but have about 3 that are missing the plastic thingy-a-bobs myself.. I actually got them from my son after he went into rehab and got off the pen making addiction.. he had either lost or destroyed them in his madness.... could use a couple myself if we find some..

BTW, my son has had a relapse and is back turning pens.
