The donations are finally winding down, or at least my mailman hopes they are anyway!
I have a box full of beautiful one of a kind ink pens for some very deserving kids thanks to this site.
I am going to contact ALCH and start setting this whole visit up. I have to figure out how exactly to give these things away that is fair. Some of these pens are quite expensive and i want to make sure they get into the hands of someone that will appreciate and use it.
I just wanted to publicly thank everyone that donated. I am not going to list names to protect the people that donated anonymously(sp) But you know who you are.
Everyone went above and beyond the call, and some absolutely floored me with their generosity. One person donated 15 amazing pens. The fit and finish on all 15 was top notch. These are first grade pens we're talking about. Another member (and his better half) donated 14 kits (when they got here, there were also two amazing Amboyna burl blanks as freebies WOOT WOOT ARIZ. SIL.), and a beautiful Nuveau sceptor (sp) in Desert Ironwood. They also ordered three stunning desert ironwood blanks and had them shipped to me with a note that said they were for me. A gift for arranging the donations. Alot of people sent way more than just two pens, and the people that sent two made sure to send work that is mind blowing. Metal inlays, segmented pieces, acrylics, fine metal finishes, high end kits, the works. People helped out with blanks, glue, kits... pretty much everything. I need to get a bunch of those little velvety bags, but otherwise we are set.
Overall, we are just over 100 pens. I think there may be a package or two straggling in, but for the most part, the donations have arrived and await delivery to some very excited kids just in time for Christmas!
I sincerely appreciate everyones help with this. I really did nothing. The few pens i am able to donate are not even a drop in the bucket. Without your help, this never would have happened.
