Ok so I have a ton of Texas Mesquite and it is quite dense and instead of shavings I would call it powder that comes of the piece when I turn it. Yes it is green. Let me just say that it is not my favorite wood to turn. But I have access to a lot of it and it was free so I will take it. My question is that I have herd or remember somewhere poeple saying that green mesquite does not warp or crack while drying. Is this ture?

It is one of the most stable wood since it shrinks almost equal tangentially vs laterally.

It can and will still crack if abused especially the bigger and thicker pieces. Mesquite is a very nice wood. Wait till you finished some of it.

Mesquite is the most dimensionally stable wood in the world, according to Texas A&M University, the authority on mesquite. I make furniture with green mesquite and have cabinets that have not moved at all 4 years later. The joints are al still as tight as the day I made them. Some of the wood I used was fresh cut on my sawmill just in time to use for some of the projects.

I dont trust anything that Texas A&M says but I will trust a guy named MesquiteMan. Thanks. I guess I wont Anchorseal this one and see what happens.

Go Texas Tech!!!

I would go ahead and anchorseal the ends if you want to try and keep the bugs out if it's not already too late.

I've got some in my garage sealed and a year later they are sound as the day I cut them. The ones I didn't anchorseal have bug holes throughout!

It will contaminate all of the other species of wood in your shop-I live just across the county line and can help by getting it out ASAP! Seriously, some of the "unusable" pieces would probably make interesting casting material-and "gig 'em"!

I have got some with bug holes but I checkd and did not see any "activity". The only bugs that came out happened when I was cutting up a log on the bandsaw. I started the cut and all of a suddend hundreds of fire ants started coming out all over my new bandsaw. What kinda bugs ar yall talking about?
