Has anyone ever been to the swap meet held at the Utah Wood turners Symposium? Would it be worth getting a spot for a young wood turner like me (by that i mean all i have is pretty much pen blanks). What do people trade? Is it possible to just walk through it and not buy a spot? Thanks!

It is mostly wood and tools sold in a parking lot from the backs of pickups, vans and trailers. There will be everything from large logs and burls freshly cut to blanks(bowls to pen blanks) already band sawed and waxed. Some turned items have been there in the past along with various turning supplies. I see more selling than trading and swapping. It is a fun time with some good stuff to purchase. I'm trying to figure out how to get several large hunks of wood into my suitcase for the flight home:frown::eek::biggrin:. There is no admission to get in but there may be a fee for those who sell. It is well attended by both buyers and sellers.
Do a good turn daily!

Jonathan,
I have purchased pen blanks there last year and the year before. I have also bought other pieces of wood, DVDs, etc. It is a lot of fun and there are some good deals.
