Hi everyone, some of you know I was diagnosied with esophagel cancer on Sept 8th. Have been going through test after test. At first it was thought that it was contained just in the esophugas but this tueday we were told I have cancer in a lymphnod one that they know of. So Tomorrow I am having a esophagectomy. Not sure on the spelling, but they will be removing most of the esophagaus and disconnect the stomach the stomach will be pulled up and reattached to the remaining esophagas. I will be on a liquid diet for up to a month and a feeding tube for 2 to 3 weeks. Part of my stomach will be made in to a esophugas so I will only be able to eat small amounts . I will be IC for up to 3 days with a total of 6 to 10 days at Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland. So hope to be home within 2 weeks.
I ask that you would keep me and my family in your prayers. That is what has kept me going for the last 2 months. As soon as I can get to the computer when I get home I will let you know what is happening. Thanks everyone I WILL RETURN!!! I have to many unfinished pen kit in the garage.

Rich,

By the time you are reading this, the surgery will be history.

We will be praying for your swift recovery.

Sounds like laughing will be painful, so I will refrain from clever comments. Remind me next week tho - I have a great one for the occasion.

Godspeed to feeling great again!!

Rich

Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your loved ones during this trying time. Get well soon and back out the garage were you belong.

Looking forward to reading about your success Rich, Godspeed in your recovery. I went through it with my brother, and it gets tough, but it definitely gets better. Hang in there!

Hi everyone. This is Rich's wife. I just wanted to thank you all for your prayers and to let you know that he is home and doing as well as can be expected. I just moved the computer to the main level of the house so he can come back out to play. Right now, he isn't feeling up to par, but then he's only been out of a major surgery for five days. He's only drinking 1 to 2 ounces of clear liquid every hour and is being fed through a feeding tube at night. Hopefully, by his next doctor's appointment (Nov. 6), he will be doing much better. Again, thanks for your prayers and support, and we will keep you updated.

Linda
