I consider myself to be safe operator... and someone that does not rub 2 rocks together to see what happens. However this morning I had a leaking 2oz soft bottle of thin CA. Was not sure what to do with it so I emptied it into pyrex measuring glass cup. Still not sure as it's wet and cannot dispose of it. I give it a couple generous blasts of accelerator. The glass was on the garage floor by the opening. The door was up. I walk away and hear something that sounds like a special effect from a sci-fi movie. The garage is filling up with a white vapor. I hold my breath and make a quick exit. Not sure what was going to happen I observed from distance. It settled down..no harm no foul but wow. Shook me upon real good. Careful with the CA.. that is a strange substance.

Sounds like the accelerator did its job ! Have never had occasion to need to dispose of a bottle quickly , but dumping it into a full bucket of water and letting it act as a slower accelerator should slow down the reaction and dissipate the heat . I would not want to stand downwind of it though .

Do you know what caused the leak?

Hey, I know what 1/2 of a drop on my finger and certain accelerators will do, I can actively imagine what a pyrex cup with an ounce or two of CA and an abundance of accelerator will do. In my younger days, I would have been foolish enough to want to watch it, but now that would probably be deadly to me and a few others who are highly allergic to the fumes.

Many Years ago, (the 1960's) I remember the burns and fumes from super glue and baking soda as I tried to use the "new" adhesive in building of a balsa and monokote model plane.

I have never had to dispose of that much, usually just a few drops in the bottle and I put it in the trash can.
Maybe you could pour it in the dirt in the yard or garden, then put it in the trash when it sets/dries. Seems it would make a lump and should be no harm.

I'm glad I caught the leak. No idea why it was coming through the bottom. It is several years old.
