Well this being Easter weekend, I took the top of my old Jeep today. I figured with this done, I really should look into why my heat has not been working since sometime last fall. (Hey, I hardly drive the thing you know!)

I find the plug to the motor and check for power, Yep... its dead, just as I figured. So then I test the motor out, sure enough the blower fan still works. Well, this is an older Jeep and like many things before it, now its time to wire in a brand new circuit. I already have extra switches mounted, an aux. fuse block and even a bank of relays on hand. (Its a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand) Well after I have everything rewired, I get up to the aux switch in the dash. Now to do this I have to lay under the dash to plug in the wire. This is not an easy task on a Jeep to say the least!

It's at this point my eye wanders to the backside of the factory switch... and the plug hanging close by. My eyes glance back to that plug, and yet again over to the plug just hanging there looking at me. Yep, sure enough... the dang fan switch has been unplugged for about a year.

Shoot... Well, I remove all my new wires and connect the factory wire back up and sure enough, I have heat again!

It's all good though, because now that the top is off I have the room in the Jeep to pick this up next week. Just a little something I got for free.. [}:)] Just load it in the back and strap it to the roll bar. (and watch for low branches!)

Stupid dang Jeep.. Is that anyway to talk about this ole girl.:D
I sure hope she doesn't hold that against you and break down with that great big freebie drill press in the back..;)
Good luck on bringing it home Lee!

Yea, I can't wait to get this drill home, it is going to be super sweet when it's restored. I have to swap out the three phaze motor with a 110v I have, but the three phaze is destined to run with a Variable Speed Controler and it will go on my wood lathe.

It will be so nice to have the ability to run from 350rpm to 4250rpm with just the spin of a handle! :D

Lee, what is your Jeep? I have an 88 YJ Sahara that is my daily driver now that gas cost too much to drive my pickup with the 454 motor. If I took the top off, do you think it could handle picking up my new Rikon 10-325 bandsaw?

Lee, don't feel bad a few years ago I watched an experienced master electrician work for about 8 hours trying to find out why an apartment did not have electricity in half of the rooms only to find a blown fuse. He has never lived that down. Of course it helps that I remind him of it on occasion[}:)][}:)]

Johnnie.. My Jeep runs from 1983 to 1998 depending on where you look. :D

It's titled as a 1991, it has the front end of an 1983 and the motor and tranny of a 1998. (and many other parts as she broke) The top is off a YJ and the doors are off a CJ, CJ style roll bar and fender flares all the way around.

I have worked her hard maany times. I had loaded it with 4 foot logs once, to the top of the front seats! Yea, it was at the bump stops! I brought home my 16" Walker Turner bandsaw which is 100% cast iron right down to the art deco style base, that was well over 500lbs. With the top off, and no one in the back you are easy to 500lbs, the top is maybe 300, and two adults in the back would be another 300 or so.

Phil, our old house in Mass. had glass fuses. Someone wired the dryer to two glass fuse spots to get the 220v. Well the "heater fuse" blew so there was no heat, but the dryer still ran. We bought a brand new dryer to find out that the fuse blew~!

Johnnie I am positive that, with the top off, you can get a little band saw like that home if this one came home in my Jeep! Just the blade doors alone on this thing are 1/4" thick cast iron! :D

And just because, here is my Jeep all pretty with the top on. My former job until 2001 was running a body shop and I painted for many years. This Jeep was done all by me right down to the new paint. The doors are sprayed with bed liner on the outside because they are only on in the winter and spend a lot of time kicking around. I like to look against the hardtop.
It took a little work to fit the CJ style nose on a YJ body but the look was well worth the effort. I still have to get one of those 1" replacement body mount/lift kits in it so the grille clears better. That and the next set of tires will be some MT's I hate these car tires that are on it now!

I have my eye out for a late 60's early 70's vintage CJ to go with my 1970 Jeep Gladiator Pickup. Had her for two years, and she runs better than most new trucks as far as I'm concerned.

It's a Jeep thing, and I have owned 3.

Had a 2000 TJ and a 2001 XJ.

It must be a Jeep thing. I have owned 6 Grand Wagoneers and usually at least 2 at a time. I loved the ride they give, it's like sitting in a big cushiony leather sofa while you drive. Here is a picture of the Jeep that has gone to almost every country where I was stationed.
She is also my everyday driver. I took this picture today while I was getting more of the antique Chestnut.

I have a 95 YJ. I love driving it, just hate filling it up. My favorite thing about driving the jeep are the waves of other jeep owners. Most of them come from the owners of older jeeps, or newer jeeps that are fixed up. I rarely get waves from the stock jeep owners, guess they are just trying to impress their friends.

Cody, my Jeep is stock as can be. I am even still using the POS Carter carb[B)]. Who would I be trying to impress with a stock Jeep?[8D]

Mike, did you say $600? I'll take it. PM me and we can get together and work out when it is good for you to have me come and get it. Thanks for offering it, I'll take real good care of it. Might even put on some chrome valve stem covers.:D
